Mindwork Counselling® and Psychotherapy offers individual and relational counselling to individuals, couples and families. One thing that separates us from others is our ability to bring together physical and mental issues in our work. We understand how the body affects the mind and vice versa, and how important it is to recognise this in promoting full whole-body heath.
We work with clients of all ages including children. We love working with students and young people, partly because we understand that changes made early in life pay rich dividends in preventing more serious problems from emerging later in life.
We have an interest in men's issues, understanding that it is sometimes difficult for men to reach out to others for help. We understand and are ready and willing to join you on your journey.
We also have a passion for helping those who have suffered or are suffering from abuse of all kinds or whose lives are affected by abuse in earlier life and need help to pick up the pieces and put them together.
In individual counselling we see people with anxiety, stress, depression, anger and difficulties with emotional self-regulation as well as addictions and other behavioural difficulties. We work with people with low self-esteem and low self-confidence, with eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm and thoughts of suicide. We work with bereavement for losses of all kinds, including the kind of losses and adjustments that major life transitions bring with them.
We see people suffering from trauma and PTSD, including complex-PTSD, and the debilitating sense of shame and fear that these often bring. We work with impulsive and obsessive-compulsive behaviours including pure-O and addictions of all kinds. In short, we help people who find themselves stuck in patterns of behaviour that limit their lives and stop them doing the things that really bring value and meaning to them.
We have a great deal of experience of working with abuse, bullying and discrimination, whether it be racial, physical, emotional or sexual, experienced in the home, in work or at school or university.
We offer relationship counselling to people who have problems in forming relationships or who have lost their way in the relationships they have, whether these be romantic relationships, friendships or relationships within the family.
We help people find better ways to communicate, to understand each other at a deeper level, to celebrate what is good in their relationship and commit to working on the things that challenge. Where there is conflict, we help couples to manage and resolve. We understand that issues are often difficult and complex, for example where there has been betrayal or infidelity or there are sexual difficulties, but if there is commitment to find a way through, then we will share that commitment and do all we can to help you through to better times.
We would always encourage people to reach out for our help before problems become overwhelming, but we do understand that seeking help is not always easy. We also understand that sometimes people may conclude that a relationship has reached its end, and when this happens we will help people to disengage and deal with the difficult practical and emotional difficulties that come up for them. Ending relationships is almost always a difficult time, and we will use our experience and skills to make it less so.
In our family work, our systemic approach to relationships is designed to help families understand the family dynamic and address conflicts, problems and challenges as a team, where each person counts, has a right to be seen and understood and given an opportunity to contribute.
We find many people have lost their way in life, uncertain about their role in the family, their career and the right work-life balance for themselves.
Our life coaching helps people understand where they are now, where they wish to be in future and how to get there, to discover what holds them back find the inner qualities and strengths that will carry them forward.
We are experts in delivering counselling online, so wherever you are, however busy you may be, we can be there for you online.
This is more than just turning on a computer. We are trained in online counselling and can even help you get up and running with the online counselling service.
We understand that some people are reluctant to go online, believing that they will get something less than they would in face-to-face counselling, but that is not what our online clients are telling us. Many of the commendations you will see under "What People Say About Us" are from people who saw us online. Many of our clients started off insisting on in-person work, but soon realised that online worked just as well and gave them more flexibility in their busy and demanding lives.
If you, like many of our clients, have childcare or caring responsibilities, or have busy lives and can't afford the time for travelling to and from counselling, or have mobility issues, then contact us about online counselling. We are confident that you will not be disappointed.
We are here for you wherever you are.
